Professor Jim Al-Khalili explains the Double Slit Experiment in the above video. This famous experiment demonstrates that matter and energy can display the characteristics of both waves and particles. But how is this explained logically? To date, most theories imply that consciousness or measurement changes the result and these seem more wacky than any other sceintific explanation for a theory.
While it could indeed be consciousness that is real with the universe a sort of simulation that needs consciousness to exist, there does exist a theory that explains the Double Slit Experiment logically or in a physical way. It doesn’t mean it is correct, but that it is a theory that we can understand. Known as de Broglie-Bohm pilot wave theory, it is the one interpretation of quantum mechanics that remains comfortably physical, that is, it doesn’t have the problem of delving into weirdness to explain what is going on.
