Discovering the framework of reality

There are more suns than grains of sand on earth

How did we come to understand the universe as much as we do today? This video investigates how our understanding was shaped by both astronomy and mathematics.

From the moment we looked up, we slowly started to understand what everything might look like. At first we thought the earth was the centre of the universe. We then realised we were but one planet revolving around the sun. Next we understood that the stars were other suns, and then we understood that all the stars we can see with our eyes are contained in our galaxy and that there were billions of other galaxies.

Today we know that there are more stars than all the grains of sand on earth. Of course, the chances are that the universe is way bigger as our observation of the universe is likely not everything out there.
