What is Mathematics?
Does the universe contain mathematics or is it all mathematics? Why does mathematics work so well in describing the physical universe?
Is our reality any different to that of a created computer world? A world in cyberspace is ruled by mathematics which is part of the underlying language that the programmer used. If a character in a created cyber world were to explore his surrounds, what would he discover. Would he find anything different to what we have discovered about our reality.
Surely he would find that he can describe his world with mathematics just as we do. If he probed deep enough with a powerful microscope to find the building blocks of his existence, he would discover pixels, the fundamental particles that are themselves made up of light or colour consisting of varying amounts of red, blue, and yellow. So would his fundamental particles be waves or particles. Surely these are the same issues we grapple with our own physical universe.
Galileo wrote that the universe is written in the language of mathematics. His observation was truly profound because he realised that we can explain the world in terms of mathematics, something that is considered normal for Physicists today. While mathematics is an essential tool in discovering and describing our universe, this video asks the question, what is mathematics?
The sine graph bothers me.
I am going to watch the video in a couple of minutes. This is a subject that I have great interest in an I have put a bit of thought into to try to develop a better understanding of for my own knowledge as everyone with an interest in this subject. I do not know if it has ever been theorized in the understanding that I now believe but I believe that mathematics is the language of the universe for very basic principals with them simply being the laws of the universe itself with the active forces of the universe. To begin, consciousness is energy in essence that is influenced by chemical messengers. That is the physiology of the human brain in that through our senses we have developed the ability for comprehension. The brain is a binary sampling machine in it’s mechanical structure but our self awareness and comprehension is the electrical activity. We all know the famous formula of Einstein’s in that E=mc2. Our observance of energy is through action even if it is in the form of a reaction. The observance and recording in any form of action and reaction is our observance of time. When it comes to particle and solid matter physics their are the five forces that basically control and influence all matter. I believe that this is the basis of how and why mathematics works the way that it does. We have refined our understanding of mathematics to the ten scale in that mathematics works out with the uniformity that it does. It is kind of obscure but math works with addition and multiplication in that the placement of the values does not matter when working the math but with subtraction and division it absolutely matters with placement of the values. So my ideology is that if we keep in perspective the laws of mathematics while working on theories of physics with the laws of physics we will be better to form a more true understanding of physics. This is widely known and taught as if the math does not work then the theory must be flawed or something is not being factored in. My final thought is back to the five forces with our standard mathematical scale. Since I have been playing with math I gave found that simply going off of a scale of five and if you add and divide the values of one thru five with one another you can not help but to have a scale of ten overall 0-10. I am a high school drop out but I was able to figure out for myself using the most basic math using a 5×5 grid the ratio of the 45° angle to a straight line.
